Gum Grafting

Receding Gums also called Gum Grafting.

This local physician has advanced receding gums. Gum grafting was also not an option for her. In addition she would also need to get a bonding material placed on her root. Upon consultation with Dr. Orphanos, she was assured that a new procedure, the new minimally invasive microsurgical technique available at the Dental Implant & Specialty Center could correct her recession.

The patient has a minimally invasive microsurgical procedure for gum grafting. Notice the lower front tooth with recession. This tooth received a gum graft and this is the result 5 years later.

This patient also had severe recession of her lower front tooth. She decided to pursue a minimally invasive microsurgical gum graft technique by Dr. Orphanos. In the week following her procedure, we took this photo. This minimally invasive approach by Dr. Orphanos results in little, to no post-operative discomfort.

This patient is a young 27 year old female. She also has an issue with receding gums. The patient was then referred to Dr. Orphanos’ office. For a micro-surgical, gum grafting procedure. The procedure was 100% successful. And the exposed roots covered completely. Receding gums results in the root surface of the tooth exposed. Cementum is the softer surface. This softer root surface is also prone to decay quite readily. Which is why we perform gum grafts. The gum grafting procedure no longer entails taking the gum graft from the roof of the mouth( palate ). Grafting materials can also be purchased now.  They avoid the need of taking the gum graft from the roof of the mouth.
